TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK: Ingleside High School student CTE Departments teamed up to make a final product (which... who wouldn't love??).... COOKIES. The Engineering class made a customized 3D printed cookie cutter for the Ingleside High School Culinary Arts Program students to use in their dessert catering order prepared for the Chemours 50th Anniversary celebration! This is a perfect "real world" example for students to learn about how different departments of an organization work together for a final product or goal! Ingleside Prepared, World Ready!

🎉🏫✂️ EXCITEMENT IN THE AIR: Leon Taylor Middle School's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was the start of a new era in education as we opened the doors of LTMS with immense pride. The ceremony was more than just a celebration of bricks and mortar, but a celebration of the aspirations, dreams, and futures of our students. It was also a tribute to the dedicated educators, supportive parents, and the resilient spirit of our community and Mustang Family! We thank our students, staff, parents, community, and city leaders for sharing a wonderful evening with us!

DID YOU KNOW? The Ingleside ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on August 14th, 2023 to call for a bond election for November 7, 2023. EXCITING NEW BEGINNINGS AT Leon Taylor Middle School! It's the first day in a brand-new school building. Students are walking into a state-of-the-art facility, which feels like walking into the future. The architecture is breathtaking and every corner of the building has been designed to inspire learning and creativity. Students and staff were welcomed this morning by warm smiles who are thrilled about this new chapter at Ingleside ISD. The IHS drum line and cheerleaders were also on site to create excitement! What makes our day is seeing students and staff reunited as one campus, grades 6-8. The energy in the hallways is palpable and we are so grateful for our community who has provided their support to give our students a facility to learn, grow, and create lasting memories in this beautiful new school building!

We would like to inform you about some important changes to our cafeteria food service charge policy that was approved on August 31, 2023 by the IISD Board of Trustees, which will be implemented starting September 18, 2023. Over the years, we have strived to provide nutritious and balanced meals to our students. Most recently, we have found it necessary to make some adjustments to our cafeteria food service charge policy. These changes are aimed at ensuring the sustainability of our cafeteria program while still offering quality meals to your children. Please review the attached document, IISD Child Nutrition Meal Charging Practices and Procedures, which details the specific changes regarding outstanding balances for students and staff. We understand that these changes may have an impact on some families. GIRLS WHO STEM: Students from Ms. Kilburn's STEM classes at Leon Taylor Middle School went to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to tour the science and engineering departments. Female students from the University pursuing degrees in those fields were present to talk to the girls and provide motivational information for the girls who are interested in STEM career fields. The next stop was at Chemours, where students were treated to lunch. At the site, female engineers and scientists had an opportunity to talk to the girls and provide insight on what their career field is like. After lunch, they got to tour the plant and see what work life looked like on site. The students had an exciting day and left feeling more encouraged as female students to pursue STEM careers!

👩‍🏫 👨‍🏫 Did you know? By the time students graduate, they spend one full year with a substitute teacher. Over 80 participants completed Substitute Training this morning and were given information and guidance on safety protocols, classroom management techniques, and district procedures. We are confident that in the absence of our staff, our students will be in great hands!

ONE WEEK AWAY: Preparing for the first day of school can be exciting, while still creating some nervousness for both parents and students. Below are 10 helpful tips to make the transition into a new school year smoother: For Parents 1. Establish a school routine: Start adjusting your child's sleep schedule a few weeks before school starts, so they can wake up refreshed and ready for the early morning routine. 2. Get organized: Purchase school supplies and necessary materials in advance. Label your child's belongings, including backpacks, lunchboxes, and clothing, to avoid mix-ups. Make sure to join us at the Back to School Bash on Friday, August 11th for FREE back to school supplies, backpacks, and haircuts! 3. Visit the school: If possible, visit the school with your child before the first day. Familiarize them with the surroundings, classrooms, and playground, which can help ease anxiety. Both IPS and GJM will hold Meet the Teacher Events. See IISD's district event calendar for details (Accessible through the district homepage under 'Events'). 4.Talk about expectations: Discuss what your child can expect on the first day, such as meeting new friends, following rules, and engaging in different activities. For Students 5. Get enough rest: Ensure you get enough sleep the night before. A well-rested mind will help you stay focused and alert during the day. 6. Pick out your outfit: Choose your first-day outfit the night before to avoid any last-minute wardrobe decisions and reduce morning stress. 7. Pack your bag: Pack your school bag with all the necessary supplies and any documents your parents need to provide to the school. 8. Eat a healthy breakfast: Start your day with a nutritious breakfast to fuel your body and mind for the day ahead. 9. Be on time: Aim to arrive a bit early to school on the first day to allow time to find your classroom and settle in. 10. Stay positive: Embrace the excitement of starting a new school year and meeting new friends. Try to approach the day with a positive attitude. Please note that the clear backpacks are being made available at cost price, meaning we are not making any profit from this initiative. Our aim is solely to enhance security measures while keeping expenses affordable for all families. The cost of each clear backpack is $17.00, and they will be available for purchase at each campus office.
