Dear Ingleside ISD Parents/ Guardians,
Ingleside ISD was made aware of a Snapchat post that was sent threatening to cause harm to 8th grade students. A student reported the social media post immediately to Administration at Leon Taylor Middle School.
District officials immediately started an investigation on the social media post. Upon investigation, Administration was able to determine that the threat was a non-credible threat and that it was originally posted on May 9th and had been in circulation from another district in Texas.
Ingleside ISD takes any threat seriously and will always take the highest security measures to keep its students and staff safe. As a precaution, you may have already seen local law enforcement conducting additional patrols around the campus areas.
We commend our students for reporting these threatening comments immediately, and our staff and law enforcement officers for taking swift action to investigate. Although the threat was not found credible, we take any communication affecting the safety of our students and staff seriously.

LITTLE LOCKER, BIG IMPACT: Today, we had the pleasure of unveiling our Little Locker projects at Ingleside Primary School and Gilbert J. Mircovich Elementary, thanks to a partnership with the The TEXAS YES Project and Cheniere Energy Inc. With the help of our gracious community sponsor, we have created a special space for children to explore and share their favorite books with one another. The Little Locker is a mini library that encourages reading and provides support in aiding students and their families on their literacy journey. Little lockers will be stocked with books and resources to students, parents, and guardians. During summer months, lockers are supplied with outdoor activity kits, crafts, and art supplies to help encourage creativity and reduce screen time
We're grateful to Cheniere Energy Inc. who made this project possible. The Little Locker is a true testament to what we can accomplish when we work together as a community. Representatives from Cheniere were on site to celebrate the unveiling and read to our students.
We hope that this new addition to our school will inspire students to read more and spark a lifelong love for literature. Let's celebrate this achievement and continue to encourage our children to pursue their passions and dreams!

For the month of May, Maria Elizondo, of GJM Elementary was selected for the Family Matters Award! She was recognized during our School Board Meeting, where she was celebrated for her outstanding efforts. She was also awarded $100 from the Ingleside ISD Education Foundation.
Below is an excerpt from the nomination that was submitted on her behalf. "Maria is such a pleasure to work with and to see everyday. She's always working hard and stays super busy keeping our school clean and in top shape. She always has a smile on her face, gets along well with others, and is the nicest person to everyone on campus. Maria deserves to be recognized because she does so much for all of us here and we want her to know that her custodial work does not go unnoticed. She not only works hard, but she brings so much joy to all the staff at GJM. There have been times when she has been the only custodian on staff, and she still gives it her all to make sure that everything is clean, kept up with, all by herself and you never hear a complaint. That is service above self and true dedication to the GJM Way. We appreciate her and honor her as a valued member of the team at GJM. "
We encourage you that if you witness an employee who goes above and beyond and demonstrates actions or qualities that are worthy of celebrating, to tell their story and help us recognize them! The nomination form is located on our website under the 'About Us' section of the Menu.
Way to go, Mrs. Elizondo! We are so glad you're part of the family at Ingleside ISD.

Dear Ingleside ISD Parents/ Guardians,
Ingleside ISD is aware of a threatening message that was posted on SnapChat regarding a threat to an unnamed school that has been circulating on social media. Ingleside Police Department and District officials have determined with reasonable assurance that the threat has been copied and re-shared from a post made in another state that has been circulating on social media. Unfortunately, the non-credible threat made its way to not only our district, but other school districts in Texas.
At this time there is no belief that there is a threat to any IISD campus. Regular campus operations will continue today, but there will be local law enforcement patrolling the area as a precautionary measure.
We commend our students for reporting these threatening comments immediately, and our staff and law enforcement officers for taking swift action to investigate. Although the threat was not found credible, we take any communication affecting the safety of our students and staff seriously.
Sincerely,
IISD Administration
