In 1957, the O.T. Blaschke Junior High was built near the first high school and originally consisted of one wing that housed grades 6-8. This building was named after the first superintendent. When the new high school was built in 1965 the original high school was renamed Vivian Sheldon Elementary in honor of a longtime IISD teacher. The school currently houses 5-6 grade as has been renamed Blaschke Sheldon.
